Job description

The context of the project 

Sorocity is the temporary occupation of social housing that is empty before being demolished by 2028. In the meantime, these vacant spaces are being used as housing for women who were experiencing homelessness. The objective is to allow them to leave the street for good, give them the means to rebuild themselves and ensure the transition to permanent housing

The project is based on three pillars: access to quality housing without conditions at a democratic price, the implementation of individualized psychomedico-social support offered by our partners Housing First and the development of socio-community activities with the aim of forging new links and integrating into the neighborhood.

The position in a few words 

We are looking for someone to ensure the general coordination of the project and who wishes to be involved in the development of an innovative vision of integration through housing in Brussels.  

The person's main missions will be:  

  • Have an overview of the project;  

  • Work closely with the project partners (owner, social partners, subsidizing authorities, local associations, public authorities, etc.);  

  • Ensure rental management (monitoring of the site in collaboration with the technical department during the expansion phases, signing and renewal of temporary occupancy agreements, carrying out entry and exit surveys, ensuring compliance with the set framework, transfer of meters, monitoring of insurance contracts, etc.);  

  • Ensure the administrative follow-upof the project (follow-up of contributions, reminder of unpaid debts, sending invoices to the accounting, etc.);  

  • Ensure the financial monitoring of the project (monitoring of the consumption of subsidies, justification of subsidies, production of activity reports and possible search for new funding, etc.);  

  • Facilitate the organization and cohesion of the team on site (analysis of operational needs, reorganization of work, facilitation of feedback, follow-up of collectively determined objectives, etc.)  

  • Manage the external communication of the project (social networks, public representation, press relations, production of project presentation booklets, etc.).  

  • To contribute to the construction of the housing vision in Communa and to set up other exciting projects.

Profile

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in project set-up and management 

  • Experience in the housing sector is a plus 

  • Experience in projects with a social purpose is highly appreciated 

  • Great administrative rigour and ease with office automation  tools

  • Ability to adapt to urgent situations and vulnerable groups

  • Organizational  skills

  • Autonomy and initiative  

  • Listening skills and empathy  

  • Discretion and respect for professional secrecy

  • Assertiveness and ability to set boundaries   

  • Joy of teamwork and communication  skills

  • Willingness to participate in horizontal governance

  • Strong interest in issues of the right to housing, the right to the city and transitional  urban planning

  • Speak English, Dutch or any other language is an asset  

  • B  licence
