The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to maintain consistency and continuity across various messaging platforms, ensuring that all audiences receive a consistent and clear message. This role requires expertise in managing a wide range of communication channels and the ability to manage the team and its activities in a healthy, timely and productive manner. The ability to quickly adapt to changing scenarios while keeping the team focused and motivated is crucial to success in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

This includes overseeing the creation of communication plans, messaging frameworks, and key narratives, as well as designing the most optimized communication channel strategy to reach, engage, attract, and convert audiences into ambassadors.

  2. Leadership and team management: Lead, develop and mentor a communications team (4-5 people in-house and a network of communications professionals), fostering an environment of collaboration and excellence. Operate, optimize and supervise the selection and management of external communication partners and providers.

  3. Defending identity and values: Defend and communicate our identity and organizational values across all platforms. This role is critical to integrating the core principles and ethics of The Synergist and its programs into communications that also reflect commitments to societal impact.

  4. Media and Public Relations: Act as the organization's primary spokesperson, manage media relations and ensure a positive public image. Develop strong relationships with leading media outlets and influencers.

  5. Digital and Social Media Monitoring: Oversee digital communications strategies, including social media management, content creation, and online reputation management. Ensure a consistent and innovative presence on digital platforms.

  6. Crisis Communications: Lead crisis communications efforts, developing rapid response strategies to maintain the organization's reputation in challenging situations.

  7. Collaborate with the program team to support stakeholder engagement: Strategically map and engage with various stakeholders, including government entities, community groups, private sector partners, and the not-for-profit sector, to advance the organization's interests and enhance its position.

  8. Foster community development and nurture: Actively participate in and nurture community development initiatives. Build and maintain strong relationships with diverse communities, facilitating open dialogues and collaborative efforts. This includes developing communication strategies that support community-based projects and foster a sense of belonging and shared responsibility within The Synergist's broader multi-stakeholder community.

  9. Impact measurement and analysis: building on results and targeting and measuring results. Continuously monitor, analyze, and optimize the performance of communication campaigns, using data to inform future strategies and report on effectiveness. Leverage and optimize strategic tools (Hubspot, Google analytics, etc.) to increase intelligence on the stakeholders of our ecosystems.
