Job description
" Fair Trade Commune " is the French-speaking Belgian campaign of the " Fair Trade Towns International " (www.fairtradetowns.org) programme. This campaign aims to encourage and support the commitment of municipalities and local actors to fair trade and the consumption of local products. The municipalities that have fulfilled the 6 criteria of the campaign receive an honorary title. More info : www.cdce.be
The person in charge of the CDCE project is part of the campaign team and reports to the Director of the Awareness and Advocacy Department.
As the CDCE project manager, he/she participates in the development of fair trade, the construction of the strategy and the implementation of the CDCE campaign by federating associations, volunteers, local actors and public authorities around the project.
Main missions
Manage the " Fair Trade Municipalities" campaign on a daily basis (management of schedules and budgets)
Monitor and supervise the local steering committees (maintaining contact, answering questions, monitoring the progress of the criteria, helping to achieve their local objectives, etc.)
With the teams of volunteers of the Magasins du monde, inform, mobilise and support local civil society actors to get involved in the campaign
Inform, mobilise and support new municipalities to participate in the campaign
Manage the website (www.cdce.be), newsletters and Facebook page
Management and production of communication material (guides, flyers, etc.)
Organize activities for the participating municipalities (workshops, trainings, meetings with suppliers, Fair Trade Week, etc.)
Coordinate and support the municipalities in the Fair Trade Week from 01 to 11 October 2025 (promotions of partner campaigns, delivery of tools and equipment, visit of organised actions, etc.).
Evaluate the files of the candidate municipalities and organize the awarding of honorary titles
Develop and boost the network of partners (made up of Frères des Hommes, Fairtrade Belgium and Oxfam-Magasins du monde)
Coordinate, with partners, the Walloon and Brussels regional campaigns
Representing the Belgian campaign to the international movement (www.fairtradetowns.org)
Profile
Ideological adherence to the Oxfam-Magasins du monde project
Interest in working professionally in the service of a volunteer movement
Training and/or experience in the field of continuing education
Knowledge of the functioning of local authorities, fair trade actors and public procurement is an asset
Excellent written and oral communication skills and a digital affinity for managing the website and social networks
Ability to work independently, while demonstrating a very good team spirit
A strong sense of organization and planning
Knowledge of Dutch is an asset
Availability to work occasionally on certain evenings or weekends
