Genetic Counselor

As a genetic counselor, you will have a key role in supporting patients and their families, mainly in the field of oncogenetics. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team (medical geneticists, social nurses, psychologists and genetic counsellors) to provide personalised advice on genetic risks.

Key Responsibilities:

• You conduct consultations independently, mainly in the context of oncogenetics.

• You prepare consultations for the various health professionals involved in the patient's follow-up.

• You establish contact with patients in order to fully understand their expectations and clarify the questions that lead them to consult for genetic counselling.

• You will carry out an accurate and appropriate genetic risk assessment for each patient.

• You will provide patients with clear information tailored to their needs, explaining the possible choices while integrating the risks, benefits and limitations of the different options.

• You will integrate into your assessment and support the individual involvement, family histories, as well as the beliefs and cultures of the patients.

• You will assess the specific needs of the patient receiving genetic counselling and provide the necessary support, ensuring that they are referred to other resources when appropriate.

• You will be responsible for documenting the information collected and writing a detailed consultation report.

• You will be required to extract and use medical and genetic information to integrate it appropriately into genetic counseling.

• You will also participate in research and teaching projects.

Specificity of the position:

We offer a full-time permanent contract.

No weekend services or childcare.

Qualifications and experience required :

• Holder of a Master's degree in genetic counselling (issued by the national system of origin or by the European Board of Medical Genetic (EBMG)) or a Master's degree in biological 🎓 sciences

• A bachelor's degree or equivalent master's degree is accepted

Additional assets:

• Have 2 years of clinical experience in a medical genetics environment (multidisciplinary)
