Data Governance Manager
Job description
As a Data Manager, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team comprising a Data Architect, Platform Engineer, Data Governance Manager, and Cloud Security Engineer. The department includes four development teams: Cloud Operations (your team), Data Engineering, Advanced Analytics, and Robotic Process Automation (RPA). To maximize delivered value, these teams are organized into squads, each focused on specialized areas. The Cloud Operations team is a transversal team which works with every squad and external stakeholders.
Your role will make a contribution to overcome challenges for the department, which is to bring maturity in the software development lifecycle establishing guidelines, frameworks and quality assurance. The role is to serve Data Manager.
You will serve as a cornerstone in propelling our organization's data platform forward, enabling sustained business velocity. Leveraging their extensive expertise, they will deliver actionable insights and facilitate informed decision-making across all business teams, driving efficiency and growth through data-driven initiatives.
Daily:
You play a key role in defining and maintaining the data privacy and compliancy guidelines for data, AI and automation products, collaborating closely with the internal and external stakeholders while bridging the DPO’s and department’s initiatives.
You facilitate and streamline the process of DPIA, to receive validation from Data governance organ by iterating and closely following up on various topics and serve as a liaison to integrate the non-functional requirements for data handling into solution design.
You establish a feedback loop with development teams to ensure that the proposed guidelines are being followed by the development teams and you ensure that all implemented guidelines are properly documented.
You maintain comprehensive documentation for data management processes, ensuring clarity and accessibility for all stakeholders and you provide a framework or template for a cross functional use case.
You set clear standards for data quality, to ensure that there are controls and metrics in place to assess the quality of the data and you address any recurring data quality issues.
You create a comprehensive and effective framework for managing data incidents and you ensure the smooth implementation of this framework. and you make sure all incident reports are easily accessed and shared when needed.
You oversee the development and maintenance of a comprehensive data catalog to ensure accurate, accessible, and up-to-date metadata for all organizational data assets. This includes defining standards and procedures for data cataloging, ensuring consistent documentation of data sources, data lineage, and data definitions.
You define the framework for access management in terms of users accesses and data sharing.
Profile
A bachelor/master's degree in computer science or equivalent through experience.
More than 5 years of experience with Data management and governance.
Deep understanding of data privacy laws and regulations (GDPR, AU AI Act..).
Experience with data cataloging tools, metadata management, and data lineage tracking.
Experience in growing the knowledge of employees on data governance best practices.
Ability to conduct thorough audit and reviews of data governance practices.
Broad knowledge of data quality, data integration, data lifecycle, databases and data warehousing solutions.
Fluent in English and/or French.
